An estimated P100,000 worth of suspected shabu was recovered in a buy-bust operation yesterday at Purok Nara Baybay in Barangay 8, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect as Bonifacio Lagunday, a newly-identified drug personality and resident of the said barangay.
Police Station 2 (PS2) commander, Police Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, said anti-drug operatives had been monitoring Lagunday even before his assignment as station commander.
During the operation, Estopa said the suspect handed over one sachet of suspected shabu worth P200 and was in possession of a supply sufficient enough to continue selling.
Around nine grams of suspected shabu was confiscated.
Lagunday has previous illegal drugs charges and earlier failed to surrender when he was a subject of “Oplan: Tokhang.”
Estopa believes there are other drug personalities operating in the area who have not yet surrendered.
Lagunday faces charges in violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect is detained at PS2./DGB, WDJ
