The medical staff of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City are being blamed for the recent death of newborn twins.
Last Wednesday, 18-year-old Remarie Trayco of Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, was admitted to the hospital after reporting abdominal pain. After it was determined she was about to give birth, by Friday, it was recommended she undergo a caesarean section as she was experiencing difficulty.
However, in response to the recommendation, a nurse allegedly confronted Trayco’s mother, Lisa, asking, “You are requesting for caesarean, why, do you have the money?”
Eventually, she gave birth to the first baby, however, the child was stillborn. The hospital later agreed to perform the caesarean section, but the second baby was also stillborn.
Trayco’s family is demanding justice and is seeking assistance from Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.
Meanwhile, the father of the twins, 20-year-old Joseph Dato, died of cardiac arrest a week prior to the birth.
All three were buried over the weekend.
The hospital has yet to release a statement regarding the incident./DGB, WDJ
