Negros Occidental wins Asia-Pacific qualifiers

The Negros Occidental junior league and little league softball teams won the recent 2018 Little League Softball Asia-Pacific qualifiers in Singapore, booking their tickets to this year’s Softball World Series, which takes place in the United States.

The Negrense little league team, coached by Lizvi Jalandoni, destroyed Singapore, 20-0, in the finals. The team next heads to the Little League Softball World Series, which takes place from August 8 to 15 in Portland, Oregon.

Meanwhile, the junior league team, coached by Roselle Hulleza, defeated Australia, 10-0, after six innings. They qualified for the Junior League Softball World Series, which takes place from July 29 to August 25 in Kirkland, Washington.

Last year, after winning in Singapore, the Bacolod City Little League softball team, composed of Domingo Lacson National High School students, took second place at the 2017 Senior League Softball World Series, falling in the finals, 4-0, to host team Delaware-District 3 at the Bruce Layton Field in Lower Sussex, Delaware in the United States.

Meanwhile, Education and Training Center School III student comprised the Bacolod City West Little League team, which competed in the 2017 Little League Softball World Series in Portland. The team exited the tournament after four games./JSG, WDJ
