The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in collaboration with the University of the Philippines Population Institute, will be conducting a national migration survey in Aklan between July and August, where an estimated 387 households will be sampled.
“We need more comprehensive data on migration in order to assist policy makers and program managers in evaluating and designing strategies for improving services,” explained Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan.
Information gathered will also be used to estimate international and inter-regional migration flow, along with major migration streams.
Among the data sought includes information on migration history, motives for moving, among other concerns.
The acquisition of more information on mobility was mandated by the Philippine Statistical Development Plan for 2011-2017./WDJ
