Speaking before an oath-taking for barangay captains at the Barangay Sto. Rosario covered court in Binalbagan earlier this week, Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Alejandro Mirasol focused on “service.”

“Be ready to serve,” he stressed. “Everyone should exert all effort for the progress of the barangays in our town.”

“All of you are dedicated that is why you are here today,” the congressman added. “You were given the mandate to serve your localities [and] you should ensure that this mandate will be met.”

In a separate interview, with Mirasol set to vacate the position in 2019, the legislator said he fulfilled his promise to deliver basic services and infrastructure projects.

Speculations arose last year suggesting possible candidates to succeed Mirasol included Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Ernesto Bascon; his cousin, Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Alain Gatuslao; or Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña./DGB, WDJ
