Motorists passing through Bacolod City must understand the digging projects are intended to control flooding – kudos to Bacolod lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya for the effort. The construction will be complete soon and drivers will be happier not having to deal with flooding anymore. However, many have observed, despite nearly four hundred traffic enforcers reportedly monitoring city roads, there was still chaos. Many of these authority figures were not meant to be in their position, some were arrogant, some indifferent, while another batch were boastful.
The city has since deployed fewer enforcers, but capable ones, which has proven to be a solution to the traffic problem.
The initial tactic was not a good reflection of the city government; particularly the head of traffic management, who appeared to tolerate the abuses and arrogance.
Although there are still some issues city traffic authorities have overlooked.
Can you imagine a flyover along a highway that is 25 meters from a crosswalk? Are motorcycles allowed on flyovers? Where are the enforcers?
Based on an observation yesterday, parallel parking is permitted along San Juan Street? The portion of the street near the Sea Breeze Hotel is wide and one-way, but the traffic chief’s idea to allow parallel parking along the east side is amusing. One is allowed to park diagonally because it’s a one-way road?
Additionally, what happened to the new traffic lights? Are they not functioning? Who is at fault, the supplier or the government? While the six new traffic lights would bring order to the roads, they do need to be operational.

With the Department of Tourism-Region VI placing a tourism road to The Ruins in Talisay City, manager Raymund Javellana must be happy with the support from the department.

The new Mactan-Cebu International Airport terminal will be operation in a few days and I have been invited for a walkthrough of the new facility. The airport is now privately-operated, proving to be better suited than unqualified government officials.
Congratulations to the GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation for providing a better face for the world.
