Following a video that went viral on social media earlier this week, a jeepney barker operating in Barangay Zone 12 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a jeepney driver to death over the weekend.
Police identified the fatality as 58-year-old Camilo Malan, a resident of Sitio Catamnan in Barangay Concepcion of the said city.
Talisay City Police Station investigators said the suspect, identified as 74-year-old Romeo Pulido, a resident of the city’s Barangay Zone 7, was engaged in a heated argument with Malan.
The argument escalated to a fistfight, where Malan reportedly took a rock and attempted to hit Pulido in the head.
Pulido, meanwhile, pulled out a 10-inch knife and stabbed Malan multiple times.
A commuter aboard a nearby jeepney captured the incident on video.
Malan was later rushed by concerned bystanders to the city’s health center, but succumbed to his wounds later that evening.
Police, meanwhile, arrested Pulido during a follow-up operation and recovered the suspected weapon used in the stabbing.
The suspect is now detained at the Talisay City Police Station and faces murder charges./DGB, WDJ
