The Bacolod-Silay Airport access road will be glittery at night once the Megaworld Corporation completes construction on the Bacolod Welcome Park, which broke ground last week within the 7.5-hectare Northill Town Center, a section of Megaworld’s 53-hectare Northill Gateway township.
A 7.2-meter welcome marker, alongside a visual representation of the Bacolod City Government Center, will greet both incoming visitors and outgoing Bacolod City travelers.
Megaworld Public Relations and Media Affairs head, Senior Assistant Vice President Harold Geronimo, said they will shoulder all costs for the construction, with the city footing the electric bill, which he called “fair enough.”
Meanwhile, Megaworld Senior Vice President Jericho Go said the project is not only a milestone for the city, it is the first time the company has constructed an official welcome marker modeled after the famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign in the US.
Also present at the groundbreaking alongside Geronimo and Go were Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, City Councilor Em Ang, Atty. John Orola, Jr., SM City Bacolod Mall Manager George Jardiolin, Raymond Dabao of Steel Art, Oscar ‘Dodong’ Bascon, Jun Ballesteros, and Jojo Quilop./WDJ
