The San Jose de Buenavista Business Park played host to last week’s 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, where evaluators found participants to be uninformed and passive.

In their post-drill assessment, evaluators said those taking part in the event appeared “uninformed” or “refused to respond knowing it [was] only a drill.”

The drill was conducted in preparation for October’s regional drill, which will take place in the province.

Recommendations included assigning additional responders, more frequent drills, among others.

San Jose de Buenavista Mayor and Elmer Untaran and Provincial Board Member Pio Sumande were present for the drill, which was led by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), San Jose de Buenavista MDRRMO, and the Provincial Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council./WDJ
