The barangay captain for Barangay Bakhaw, in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district, along with a helper were shot dead at a beach resort in Barangay Idcadlum, San Joaquin, Iloilo yesterday.

Barangay Captain Remia Prevendido-Gregori and her helper Analee Antipatria were both reported deceased; while the official’s husband, Bonifacio Gregori, Sr., was wounded after being shot in the left foot.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, said five to seven armed men wearing bonnets shot the three inside their Crystal Cove Beach Resort accommodations.

It was also revealed, the barangay official was the sister of slain drug lord Richard ‘Buang’ Prevendido. She had previously surrendered to police under “Oplan Tokhang” and also has a son currently incarcerated on drug charges.

In addition, Antipatria was said to be linked to illegal drugs through Prevendido-Gregori.

Recovered from the crime scene were 10 empty shells from an M16 Armalite rifle.

“I believe this case was planned,” Tayaba asserted. “The victim was under surveillance because the suspects knew their location.”

“We are still conducting an investigation,” he added. “I already directed my men to coordinate with resort employees.”/WDJ
