Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III is expected to issue an executive order calling on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to create a drainage plan before commencing with any infrastructure projects.

“I will issue an executive order that will not allow any road construction without [a] corresponding drainage plan,” he said.

The mayor said, such projects, without a drainage plan, contributes to flooding.

Espinosa also noted unfinished projects have also created traffic in some parts of the city.

Earlier this month, Iloilo City Public Safety and Management Office head Jeck Conlu recently revealed most of the city’s road projects are delayed.

“Naga-appeal ako sa mga contractors sang mga road projects nga kon pwede obrahon nila 24/7 (I appealed to contractors of the road projects, requesting they work 24 hours a day, seven days a week),” he said./WDJ
