The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) “Passport on Wheels” visited the MassKara Hall, located at the Bacolod City Government Center, yesterday and will continue seeing pre-screened applicants through today.
“Bacolodnons have been experiencing difficulty getting an online appointment to apply for or renew their passports due to the backlog in the DFA online appointment process,” explained Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia. “Passport on Wheels is a way of extending help to our constituents who need to travel abroad.”
Around 1,000 applicants will be reviewed, with an estimated 500 being serviced each day.
According to Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang, who chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, the applicants all underwent a pre-screening last week.
Meanwhile, DFA Regional Consular Office-Bacolod officer-in-charge Carolina Constantino said the program also assists those unable to schedule applications online./WDJ
