Amid the ongoing police investigation into the recent murder of three minors in Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, the municipal government has since linked the case to a local cult, claiming the suspect, 21-year-old John Mark Melibo, was a member.
In a recent radio interview, Calatrava town Councilor Honeyboy Goc-ong confirmed the information they received, which was corroborated by Barangay Marcelo Captain Jeremias Diotay, reporting the suspect was not to eat for 41 days and was allegedly ordered to kill at least 12 people.
Goc-ong said he also wants the suspect to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is suffering from mental illness.
The suspect was also reported to have homicidal tendencies as he also allegedly tried to kill his female sibling, Jenny, during her infancy.
Jenny managed to survive the initial incident and also escaped when her brother murdered their three other siblings.
The town councilor added, the municipal government is ready to provide further assistance for the Melibo family.
Calatrava municipal police, meanwhile, stated the suspect will undergo drug testing to see if he was under the influence of illegal drugs.
Earlier this week, Melibo claimed he was ordered by Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, to slash the necks of one-year-old Gregor Melibo, five-year-old Alejandro Melibo, and 14-year-old Jun Renz Melibo.
The suspect was later arrested by Diotay and several concerned citizens.
Melibo is presently detained at the Calatrava Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
