The Visayan Maritime Academy (VMA) Global College recently graduated the first batch of Bridging Program scholars, comprised of licensed mechanical engineers who enrolled in VMA’s maritime engineering six-month training.

The Negros Occidental provincial government provided for tuition and fees through a “study now, pay later” scheme, which came to around P180,000 per student.

VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. president, Atty. Juan Orola, Jr., said he is happy for the opportunity to train and support professionals who will contribute to the shipping industry.

The graduates will then proceed to shipboard training with the Phoenix Maritime Corporation, Island Overseas Transport Corporation, or Leonis Navigation./WDJ
