Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., alongside 2016 vice gubernatorial candidate and former Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer, will represent the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) in the upcoming unity talks with rival political coalition Love Negros, which is led by Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Congressman Alfredo Benitez.

It was earlier reported, Ferrer would reportedly be more inclined to run on a Love Negros-UNegA unity ticket.

UNegA secretary-general, Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr., suggested a Lacson-Ferrer tandem, with Benitez running for senate.

However, sources close to Ferrer claim the former congressman is more inclined to run for governor.

Meanwhile, Benitez has yet to officially announce his political plans amid calls from Love Negros endorsing a gubernatorial run./DGB, WDJ
