At least 22 people were injured after a bus slammed into two carabaos Wednesday night in Barangay Pacol, Bago City.
Bago City deputy police chief, Police Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, said the bus unit driven by Allan Claudio and owned by bus company Road Star Lines was heading to Barangay Ma-ao when it struck two carabaos.
Trigue said, during the incident, the two carabaos were reported to have been chasing each other and locked horns in the middle of the road.
The force of the impact reportedly flipped the bus, crashing into a sugarcane field, while the two carabaos were instantly killed.
The injured were rushed to the Bago City District Hospital for treatment.
Trigue noted, most of the injuries suffered were minor.
Claudio, meanwhile, was held by traffic investigators at the Bago City Police Station for questioning and admitted he failed to spot the animals in the road.
The driver was released yesterday as negotiations for a settlement are underway./DGB, WDJ
