As the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) deployed their 50-strong force to monitor the opening of classes, which took place yesterday, with their duties including securing the roads leading to schools, PSTMO head Jeck Conlu admitted to encountering difficulty.
“The situation is really difficult because of physical structures [along] some roads,” he pointed out. “We will do our best to help traffic flow continuously.”
The team, which includes traffic aides, police auxiliary members, and personnel from the special services unit and the Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures, will be deployed near schools and monitor sidewalks.
It was earlier reported, the task force would also repaint pedestrian lanes and ensure there is enough police security at city schools.
“We will ensure that our students, and even their parents or guardians who bring them to schools, are safe,” Conlu earlier noted./WDJ
