Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu recently revealed most of the city’s road projects are delayed. He expressed his disappointment with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), pointing out, there are currently around 30 ongoing projects.
It was earlier reported, with the PSTMO creating a task force to monitor the opening of the 2018-2019 academic year, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 4, Conlu said he would call on the DPWH to speed up construction.
“Naga-appeal ako sa mga contractors sang mga road projects nga kon pwede obrahon nila 24/7 (I appealed to contractors of the road projects, requesting they work 24 hours a day, seven days a week),” he said.
Conlu noted, despite coordinating with the government agency, they are still “off target.”
He added, the upcoming rainy season may delay projects even further.
Among the duties expected of the said task force include securing roads leading to schools and repainting pedestrian lanes./WDJ
