A woman believed to be suffering from a mental illness was killed after she was run over by a 10-wheeler truck Wednesday morning in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Police refused to identify the fatality, but confirmed she was 30 years old and a resident of Purok Tahong of the said barangay.

Police Station 2 (PS2) traffic investigators said the victim was crossing the street in front of a supermarket when he was run over by the truck.

The victim was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment, but was declared dead on arrival due to abdominal injuries.

The truck driver, whom police have also refused to identify, surrendered to PS2 following the incident and may face vehicular manslaughter charges./DGB, WDJ
