Negros Occidental Commission on Elections (Comelec) election supervisor, Atty. Jessie Suarez, recently confirmed honorariums have been released for all 19,046 poll workers who participated in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections last month.
Suarez said the last eight workers received their compensation last Wednesday after there were “problems with their cash cards.”
He pointed out, based on new guidelines from the Comelec central office, “[For] those who cannot receive their honoraria via the cash cards given to them, it will be sent and released through the election supervisor.”
“We also called and informed them that their honoraria will be released through the provincial election office,” he pointed out.
Data from the provincial Comelec office showed 13,000 of those who served were given their stipend through cash cards, while more than 3,000 received them directly from the election supervisor./DGB, WDJ
