The Iloilo City Public Safety and Management Office (PSTMO) will be creating a task force to monitor the opening of the 2018-2019 academic year, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 4.
The group will secure roads leading to schools, repaint pedestrian lanes, and ensure there is enough police security at city schools.
“[The mayor] wants to make sure there will be no incident or crimes on the day of the opening of classes,” said PSTMO head Jeck Conlu. “We will ensure that our students, and even their parents or guardians who bring them to schools, are safe.”
He noted, with many road construction projects still unfinished, the city official will be writing a letter to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
“We will also ask them to tell the contractors to work double time,” Conlu explained./WDJ
