The Fair Trade Producers Network-Philippines (FTPN-Philippines), a network of small producer organizations, was recently established, holding its founding assembly earlier this week at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel.
The organization seeks to provide local producers a fair price for their goods.
The group upholds the same core principles embraced by the global fair trade movement, including creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers, ensuring good working conditions, committing to non-discrimination, among other beliefs.
FTPN-Philippines is also part of the Fairtrade Network of Asia and the Pacific Producers.
According to their website, the international network provides an “alternative approach to conventional trade and is based on a partnership between producers and consumers.”/WDJ
