When asked about allegations of meddling in the recent Iloilo City Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation elections by Iloilo City lone district Rep. Jerry P. Treñas, Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III refused to comment on the matter.

“I don’t want to divide the youth,” he explained. “Kon ano ang resulta (whatever the result), we will respect it.”

Earlier this week, Barangay Our Lady of Lourdes SK chair Leila Luntao was elected federation president; however, Iloilo City Councilor Plaridel Nava previously played a voice recording that supposedly depicting Treñas speaking before a meeting of SK chairs.

“It’s very clear,” the city councilor pointed out.

Both Treñas and Luntao denied the allegations, with the latter affirming, “I have no politician backer.”

Meanwhile, the congressman admitted to attending the said meeting, but stated, “Waay ko naghambal nga botohon kon sin-o (I did not say anything about who to vote for).”

As SK Federation president, Luntao will set as an ex-officio member of the city council./WDJ
