During his recent visit to Negros Occidental, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde called insurgent attacks, from groups including the New People’s Army (NPA), “isolated” incidents.
“These insurgency attacks are isolated cases and we can focus on these areas,” he said.
The PNP chief pointed out, while the police may not be fully equipped to deal with unrest in far-flung areas, he noted, “We can always ask reinforcement from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.”
Albayalde also said, peace talks are necessary to “really resolve the issues.”
While in the province, the PNP chief also addressed law enforcement, encouraging them to serve the community with humility and compassion.
“We have to serve the people, whether they are rich or poor, without fear or favor, whether they are a politician or not,” he stressed.
The PNP chief added, the best community relations police can provide is peace and order./WDJ
