According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Aklan saw a 6.2 percent rise in inflation, or the rate in which the price of goods and services is fluctuating.
The alcoholic beverages and tobacco index saw a 20.5 percent rise, which, in their 2017 report, Aklan saw the commodity group rise an average 6.7 percent.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages, meanwhile, experienced an 8.9 percent increase.
Among groups whose inflation rate decreased include fruits, with a 0.9 percent drop; and vegetables, at a marginal 0.1 percent.
Earlier, the Philippine government revealed economic growth in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to 6.8 percent, which was lower than their seven to eight percent targets. Economists pointed to inflation as the reason for the lower figures./WDJ
