A bill proposing a township for Don Salvador Benedicto recently passed the House of Representatives on its third reading. According to Abang Lingkod Partylist Rep. Stephen Paduano, passage of the bill will “bring more development to the town.”
The party-list legislator said he will ask Senator Cynthia Villar to adopt his version of the bill before the Senate.
The proposed township, which is 200 hectares in size, will be divided between the town’s Barangays Igmayaan and Kumaliskis, where a public market and public plaza could be developed.
The site could also serve as a possible relocation site for the municipal government as its current location is in a very hilly part of town.
Paduano said the land is “alienable” and “disposable,” which means they fall under public domain.
He speculated, the area could be home to “hotels and other businesses” in the future./DGB, WDJ
