Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia lauded the appointment of Senator Vicente Sotto III as Senate president after his predecessor, Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, stepped down from the position.

“With this development, we are positive that the Senate will be in good hands,” the mayor said.

Sotto served as guest of honor for the opening salvo for Grupo Progreso, Leonardia’s political coalition, during the 2016 election period.

The senator and “Eat Bulaga” mainstay is also godfather to Leonardia’s daughter Loren Kara.

Sotto was sworn into office last Monday./WDJ
