The Guimaras Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently monitored motorcycle helmets being sold in Jordan, Buenavista, San Lorenzo, Sibunag, and Nueva Valencia to ensure they were certified models.

According to RA 10054, or the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009, motorcyclists and their passengers are required to wear helmets when operating their vehicle.

The law also requires DTI to provide guidelines for helmets.

It also notes, the Land Transportation Office, under the Department of Transportation, is responsible for implementing the policy.

Approved equipment should have markings showing they were approved by DTI. Imported items receive an imported commodity clearance, while local merchandise are provided products standard stickers./WDJ
