National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada, Jr. yesterday assured the public they would not be using substandard materials for the construction of Vista Alegre Homes, their housing project in Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.
In a radio interview, Escalada called the design and construction of the homes “high quality,” adding 9,000 to 9,500 more are expected to be constructed in other parts of the country.
Vista Alegre Homes is the fifth such housing project, following other sites in Davao, Lanao, Tarlac, and Bulacan.
The Talisay City project sits on 15 hectares of land and is expected to house 1,000 active military and police personnel, along with their families.
Escalada said the project will cost a total of P1 billion, adding aside from military and police, 10 percent of the project will be reserved for members of the Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Corrections, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
He added, each unit is 80 square meters and costs between P1.1 and P1.2 million each, with a monthly fee of P4,900 to P5,100 for beneficiaries.
Over the weekend, President Rodrigo Duterte led the groundbreaking for the project.
In his address, he assured active duty cops and soldiers that his administration will continue to look after their welfare./DGB, WDJ
