The Provincial Health Office (PHO) will be conducting a briefing on dengue, rabies, and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) today, May 22, at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.
According to Negros Association of Government Information Officers and Liaisons (NAGIOL) President Olive Seruelo, Provincial HIV Coordinator Jospehine Nonato will provide updates on the HIV situation in the province, Health Education Officer- designate Melina Sanogal will speak on dengue, and Provincial Rabies Coordinator Marmolejo will discuss rabies.
With regard to the three subjects to be tackled, based on a Philippine Information Agency release, PHO records show there were 1,023 dengue cases reported so far this year, 18, 910 bite cases associated with rabies were reported last year, and over 600 Negros Occidental residents are currently living with HIV or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)./WDJ
