Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde addressed Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) personnel over the weekend, urging them to serve the community with humility and compassion.
“We have to serve the people, whether they are rich or poor, without fear or favor, whether they are a politician or not,” he stressed.
The PNP chief added, the best community relations police can give is peace and order.
He also discussed insubordinate police personnel, pointing to a recent incident involving police officers who went viral on social media by bashing the PNP director general.
Albayalde said police officers must be humble, calling them the best ambassadors for change and peace, noting, police commanders should not hesitate in ousting police officers who express such disrespect.
He reminded those gathered of “command responsibility.”
The PNP chief also met with Police Regional Office-6 director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag; NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr.; and BCPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, where they discussed matters pertinent to the Western Visayas.
Meanwhile, Albayalde also visited the law enforcement officials involved in last week’s shootout in Cauayan, who are confined at Riverside Medical Center. He also awarded the wounded officers./DGB, WDJ
