Winners in the recent Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) election will be required to undergo training conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) before serving.

In a radio interview over the weekend, Bacolod City DILG Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag said the training will take place on Wednesday, May 23, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) auditorium.

A seminar for winning SK candidates was earlier held at UNO-R and all Carlos Hilado Memorial State College campuses.

Madayag explained the training will inform SK officials of their obligations.

She pointed out, the elected officials will be barred from service if they do not attend the training.

The training comes with a registration fee of P1,600, which can be funded through the barangay’s SK fund.

Around 488 winning SK officials are expected to attend./DGB, WDJ
