A man was wounded after he was struck by a stray bullet during a fiesta earlier Thursday morning in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City.

Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Ian Colagnos, a resident of the said area.

Based on investigations by Kabankalan City police, around 2:00 a.m., a commotion erupted during the barangay’s fiesta celebration.

Barangay tanods immediately responded and tried to break up the fight. However, based on one eyewitness account, one of the tanods allegedly pulled out an unidentified caliber gun, intending to fire a warning shot.

However, instead of firing the gun in the air, they pointed the firearm towards the ground, causing the bullet to ricochet off the cement, hitting Colagnos in the leg.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City for treatment.

Kabankalan City police are presently investigating the incident./DGB, WDJ
