The National Resilience Council held their first stakeholders meeting last week in Iloilo City, where they launched the “Resilient Iloilo City” initiative. The city is one of six pilot areas across the country.
“We are very happy that Iloilo City has been selected as one of the pilot areas in the country so that we can see to it that we will become a resilient city in terms of environment, human development, local economy, and infrastructure,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
According to Council President Ma. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, the initiative will run for three years and focus on two programs.
“One is a leadership in governance, wherein there is recognition of new skills, competencies, [and] knowledge,” she explained. “The other is combined with science and technology, that is a set of competencies and skill.”
“These two will be the stepping stones towards the resilience roadmap,” Yulo-Loyzaga added./WDJ
