The Bacolod City Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday confirmed they have begun the release of cash cards for electoral board members who worked during last Monday’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
In a radio interview, Bacolod City Comelec elections officer, Atty. Mavil Majarucon-Sia, said, of the 2,800 Bacolod City electoral board members, those serving as chair will receive their cards first.
Honorarium of those who served as poll clerks and third members will be released next.
Majarucon-Sia added, the Development Bank of the Philippines confirmed value has been added to the cash cards.
Earlier this year, the local Comelec official reported some teachers refused to serve during the elections, citing the potential for cases being filed against them, along with possible delays in the release of honorariums.
However, it was later resolved following a meeting between the Negros Occidental chapter of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers and Majarucon-Sia back in February./DGB, WDJ
