Lacson: Elections went well

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said during a press conference yesterday, the conduct of the recent barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections went well despite reports of vote buying and harassment.
“I think, so far, I haven’t heard of any barangay or SK candidates who have filed complaints, so I can say this one went well,” he said.
The vice governor added, those who lost should accept the outcome.
Lacson also advised elected barangay and SK officials to attend today’s Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) seminar, which will be held at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City and all Carlos Hilado Memorial State College campuses.
The provincial official said he hopes the newly-elected officials will be able to contribute to uplift the lives of their respective communities.
Meanwhile, the vice governor said DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño should file charges directly against politicians who allegedly intervened in the polls instead of naming publicly, which is being requested by several groups.
“I think it is better than just naming names, he should file charges,” he said./DGB, WDJ
