A sales boy was arrested by police after he allegedly stole P325,000 in cash from his employer yesterday morning along San Juan Street in Barangay 12, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Beny Ventura, a resident of Mari Norte, San Andres, Romblon.
Police Station 1 (PS1) commander, Police Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, said Ventura’s employer, Randy Caseres, discovered his room was open and the cash he had placed inside was missing.
Caseres immediately reviewed his establishment’s close circuit television cameras and saw Ventura stealing the cash.
The victim immediately notified PS1 of the incident and Estopa ordered the station to trace Ventura’s whereabouts.
The suspect was later arrested at the Bredco port as he was attempting to board a ship bound for Iloilo in order to escape.
Police recovered P322,950 in cash from Ventura’s backpack.
