A robbery attempt at a pawnshop on Sunday in Barangay 1, Kabankalan City was foiled after the establishment’s alarm systems went off.

Police have yet to identify the suspects in the robbery attempt.

Based on investigations by Kabankalan City police, the suspects tried to break in by tunneling through a drainage system that led to the shop’s vault room.

However, as the suspects were trying to pry open the vault, the establishment’s alarm system was triggered. The system informed the security system provider in Silay City, Negros Occidental, who in turn relayed the information of “robbery in progress” to the Kabankalan City Police Station.

The suspects fled empty-handed after the alarms went off.

Police recovered several power tools, allegedly used by the suspects, from the crime scene.

Kabankalan City police are presently investigating the incident./DGB, WDJ
