The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed no Filipinos were injured in the knife attack that took place in Paris, France over the weekend.
Based on information from the Philippine Embassy in Paris, the DFA reported one person was killed and four others were injured.
The assailant, identified as Khamzat Asimov, a naturalized French citizen from Chechnya, was reportedly on a national security watch list.
According to reports, Asimov stabbed passersby near the Place de l’Opéra and reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” while conducting the attack.
He was eventually neutralized by police.
The Islamic State later claimed responsibility for the attack./WDJ
