No major incidents –PRO-6

Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, reported no major incidents during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, which took place yesterday.

He noted during a press conference, there are five suspected election-related incidents currently under investigation, while police have otherwise recorded “petty incidents” on the day of the elections.

The five reported incidents took place prior to election day.

Meanwhile, 75 people were arrested and 228 firearms were seized in violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, along with one arrest in violation of the liquor ban.

Over the weekend, Binag said 8,511 police officers had already been deployed, with the military helping to secure polling precincts, transport ballots, and provide security for election officials./WDJ
