Robinsons location backlogged by around 35,000 licenses

In response to public complaints regarding reportedly long wait times for driver’s licenses at Land Transportation Office (LTO) locations throughout Bacolod City, the government office explained they are limited to releasing 100 licenses a day.

According to a release from the agency, the printing machines, which cost P3 million, may overheat if more than 100 driver’s licenses are produced in one day.

The release also noted, the figure is based on “normal operations sans trouble and issues.”

The agency admitted, since November 2016, the LTO office at Robinsons Place Bacolod is backlogged by around 35,000 licenses.

LTO explained priority numbers are provided for those ready to pick up their licenses, adding numbers are issued Monday to Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

A viral video on social media showed the line for the LTO office at Robinsons Place Bacolod stretching along one side of the mall, with the first few in line saying they arrived around 3:00 a.m. that morning./WDJ
