During a meeting of the Iloilo City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) earlier this week, Iloilo City Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) head, Atty. Ferdinand Panes, said the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is requesting high resolution CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras in the city.
“Ang issue nila ang mga CCTV cameras, especially sa Smallville areas, indi athagon (Their issue is the CCTV cameras, especially in the area of Smallville, are not clear),” he explained. “Indi makita clearly ang tawo (You cannot see people clearly).”
The ICPO is calling for an amendment to Regulation Ordinance No. 2011-307, or the CCTV ordinance, which requires the installation of CCTV cameras for businesses and other commercial establishments in the city.
The DILG official suggested the ICPO write a letter to Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III regarding their request, while the CPOC will recommend the matter to the Iloilo City Council./WDJ
