CSAV, ESJ Fyre Fyter win

The Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV) recently defeated Dawn Rent-A-Car, 83-78, in the ongoing Negros Basketball Association President’s Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School gym; while ESJ Fyre Fyter beat Supreme ABF-Silver Graces Construction, 91-88.
CSAV opened the game with a 20-13 lead in the opening period; however, the margin reduced to three points going into the fourth period, with Dawn Rent-A-Car at a 58-55 deficit.
The eventual winners opened the final quarter with an 8-0 run, increasing their lead and taking the win.
Jeric Adorio led the victory with 21 points, followed by Josue Segumpan with 18.
Despite the loss, both Alvin Jamora and MJ Magbanua scored 23 points for Dawn Rent-A-Car, along with Alfie Villariza contributing 21.
In the other game, the two teams were tied 88-88 with just over three minutes left in the final period. Janus Calma put ESJ Fyre Fyter up by two, which was followed by a failed attempt by Supreme ABF’s Frederick Ngoh Elombi to tie up the game again.
Renz Solomon was unable to seal victory for ESJ Fyre Fyter after missing two free throw opportunities; although, a turnover by Supreme ABF’s Errol Doromal offered another chance for the eventual winners, with Coleen Testa scoring from the foul line.
Solomon led the win with 17 points, followed by John Nermal and Testa each adding 14; however, Elombi managed to scored 23 points for Supreme ABF, alongside Ramer Javillo adding 19 and Doromal scoring 17./JSG, WDJ
