Ceres FC plays first semifinal leg tonight

Defending AFC Cup ASEAN Zone champions Ceres-Negros FC play the first leg of their 2018 AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal semifinals against Yangon United FC of Myanmar, tonight at 7:00 p.m., at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

“They are a strong team and we have to be prepared,” said Ceres coach Risto Vidaković. “The good crowd at Panaad will fuel us to play harder.”

Yangon United coach Myo Min Tun also vowed a good match at the Bacolod City venue.

“We travelled a long way and we know Ceres FC is strong,” he said. “We are ready to give our all in this match.”

The winner will advance to the zonal finals on aggregate. The two clubs play their second leg on May 16 at the Thuwunna Stadium in Myanmar.

Ceres midfielder Bienvenido Marañón and Yangon United striker Sekou Sylla are currently tied for second place in the number of goals scored in the tournament with seven each. The leaders, forward An Il-bom of North Korean club 4.25 SC and striker Marko Šimić of Indonesian club Persija Jakarta, have each scored eight goals.

Meanwhile, the Negrense club is currently second in the total number of goals with 17, one behind 4.25 SC at 18./JSG, WDJ
