According to a radio report yesterday, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia reportedly signed an ordinance seeking to amend the Bacolod City College (BCC) charter.

The ordinance was reported to be the only missing requirement for BCC to qualify for free tuition under RA 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Earlier, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) listed several schools in Negros Occidental eligible to provide free tuition, including Carlos C. Hilado Memorial State College, the Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, West Visayas State University-Himamaylan Campus, the Technical University of the Philippines Visayas-Talisay, and Philippine Normal University-Cadiz City.
