A suspected burglar was arrested after he was cornered by the individual he was attempting to rob Sunday morning at Sitio Mohon in Barangay 1, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Robert John Gutierrez, a resident of Barangay 4, Himamaylan City.

Kabankalan City police said the victim, identified as 43-year-old Paul Roderick Tanteras, arrived at his residence and witnessed Gutierrez carrying his P13,000 television set; 11 plates; and a car battery, worth P6,000.

When the victim confronted Gutierrez, he immediately fled, prompting Tanteras to chase the suspect while shouting for help from neighbors.

Some neighbors responded by joining Tanteras in the chase, while others contacted police.

Gutierrez was later cornered and arrested beside a fence owned by a local subdivision.

The suspect is currently facing theft charges./DGB, WDJ
