Lopue’s-USLS wins table tennis medals

The Lopue’s-University of St. La Salle (USLS) table tennis teams recently picked up multiple medals at the 2018 National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) meet in Tagbilaran, Bohol, earning two gold medals, along with a silver and bronze.

After winning the tertiary table tennis events at the 2018 Western Visayas PRISAA meet back in March, Lopue’s-USLS represented the Western Visayas, taking gold in the men’s team and men’s singles competitions.

The tertiary men’s team, comprised of John Paul Gubaton, John Michael Castro, James Saligumba, and Cris Lester Rejon, won the championship by defeating four-time defending champion Region VII in the finals. Castro went on to capture the tertiary men’s singles title after beating Fausto Zeus Comaingking of Region VII.

Castro was also named ‘Best Player.’

Lopue’s-USLS won silver in the tertiary men’s team doubles event, after Saligumba and Rejon lost to their Region VII counterparts.

On the women’s side, the Region VI team, comprised of Jhayren Rose Villanueva, Catherine Samson, Kimberly Faith Trasporto, and Stephanie Shyne Villanueva, finished in third place.

Meanwhile, Pastor Hosea B. Alvarez was named ‘Best Coach.’/PLL, WDJ
