The owner of a vulcanizing shop, located along the highway at Hacienda Lolobcon in EB Magalona’s Barangay San Jose, suffered injuries, together with two other minors, when a ten-wheeler sugarcane truck lost control and fell on the said shop over the weekend.

A report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) identified the victims as shop owner Carlito Sales, 46 years old; and the two minors, whom police did not name, aged 12 and 7 years old.

A report by EB Magalona traffic investigators said the ten-wheeler was driven by 48-year-old Ramy Selorio of Barangay Ma-ao in Bago City.

Initial investigation showed Selorio was heading north on his cane truck when he lost control and swerved and struck a steel barrier.

Due to the heavy load, the truck fell onto its left side and into the said vulcanizing shop.

As a result, the victims, who were sleeping in the vulcanizing shop at the time of the incident, were trapped.

They were eventually rescued after being trapped for almost three and a half hours.

The victims sustained injuries across different parts of their bodies and were immediately brought to Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City for treatment.

Aside from the vulcanizing shop, an electrical post was also damaged.

Selorio voluntarily surrendered to EB Magalona police station and currently faces charges involving damage to property with physical injuries./DGB, WDJ
