A technical working group, headed by Batangas sixth district Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto, is currently looking to consolidate various bills seeking to make the adoption process more efficient.

The new policy is looking to address the issue of “unadoptable” children, or those found to be unfit for adoption due to current policies.

One of the primary goals of the new legislation would create the National Child Care Authority (NCCA), which would develop policies on adoption and foster care, along with implement programs to prevent human trafficking and exploitation.

The group also plans on enacting laws regarding “alternative child care” that would both facilitate the process and serve the adopted or foster child’s best interest./WDJ
