Police officers involved in the recent botched robbery attempt in La Castellana and the double murder in Silay City will receive awards from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO).
NOPPO spokesperson, Police Inspector Charmae De Paz, said prior to the robbery incident last Wednesday, La Castellana municipal police chief, Police Superintendent Irma Teocson, ordered local officers to strengthen patrols in the town’s Barangay Cabacungan following a string of robbery incidents in the area.
Due to the enhanced police presence, they were able to immediately pursue the three robbery suspects, two of whom were killed after opening fire at cops.
De Paz added it was a coincidence the feeds store, where the incident occurred, happened to be owned by a police officer.
Four La Castellana police officers will receive honors.
Meanwhile, De Paz said NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., said he also wants to award Silay City Police Station officers for successfully solving a double murder case within 36 hours of the incident.
De Paz said the public should remain vigilant with regard to any criminal activity. He noted they should not hesitate contacting police in order to resolve the issue and ensure peace and stability./DGB, WDJ
